Strong Bones is a complex formula containing calcium and magnesium, which are important building blocks in our bones. Supplementation of calcium and magnesium may help maintain normal structures of bones and teeth and have many other benefits.

Strong Bones PLUS is a formula which supports the healthy functioning of the bones. It contains calcium and magnesium, and for the sake of better utilization, we have complemented it with vitamin D3.

Strong Bones & Strong Bones PLUS will take a good care of your bones.

The 99% of the calcium in our bodies can be found in the bones and teeth, and it is vital for their growth, and structural integrity. Even though the bones may stop growing at full adulthood, the bones still need a continuous supply of calcium in order to maintain their strength, and proper function. As well as supporting the health of our skeletal structure and teeth, calcium also plays an important role in muscular function, the function of the central nervous system, and normal blood coagulation.

Magnesium is the fourth most abundant mineral element in the body. 60% of the magnesium in our metabolism can be found in the skeleton, where it helps support and preserve the normal structure of bones and teeth. It also plays an important role in the normal functioning of the central nervous system and muscles. It is also a vital factor in the energy production processes of the body, and assists in protein synthesis and normal cell division.

Strong Bones is a set of chelate iron (organic) and magnesium in 2:1 ratio. This “amalgamation”  (i.e.: in accordance with nature) makes calcium easily  absorbant and helpful in metabolic acidosis treatment. Organic chelates detoxify the body from inorganic toxic calcium concrements gathered in joints, blood vessels and kidneys as stones. Strong Bones differs much from other pharmaceuticals.

Strong Bones & Strong Bones PLUS are recommended in the following conditions:

  • prevents bone and joint pains, back pains, lumbago
  • is helpful in osteoporosis and arthritis as well as, morning joint stiffness
  • in neuralgies, in trigeminal nerve inflammation, in sciatica
  • in children conditions such as: permanent teeth growth, teeth decay, growth disorders, osteomalacia, bone fractures, rickets, spine and limb pains connected with growing
  • for pregnant and breastfeeding women, prevents teeth decay
  • after 35 years of age – to prevent bone fractures, toothaches or osteoporosis
  • in limb numbness, “legs falling asleep,” painful cramps
  • in metabolic acidosis – detoxifies the body in diabetes, gout, arteriosclerosis, obesity
  • in various types of neurological diseases connected with the lack of magnesium – magnesium regulates the level of melatonin, which helps to sleep better
  • should be used in migraines or brain inflammation
  • against night sweating and wetting
  • during mental disorders and mental diseases (e.g.: autism, Down’s syndrome)
  • prevents neurological diseases in youngsters (e.g.: SM, fibromyalgia)
  • should be used by people addicted to barbiturans
  • to prevent cillosis or trembling hands
  • thanks to the chelate calcium it can also prevent kidney stones

Your bones are the framework of your body and up into your 20′s, your bone mass is at an all time high. However, as women head toward their 30′s and beyond, it is increasingly difficult to maintain bone mass and density. Women are increasingly prone to osteoporosis and there are several factors that can speed this bone disease along. If you can start early, you can prevent the threat of osteoporosis with several lifestyle changes and also additional supplementation.

Calcium is an essential building block for strong, healthy bones and statistically, many women consume less than half the daily requirements. Young women through age 45 need approximately 1,000 milligrams of calcium daily while women over 45 need about 1,200 milligrams. Pregnant or breastfeeding women need about 1,400 milligrams for good bone health.

Strong Bones PLUS

The minerals calcium and magnesium belong to the group of macroelements. They have a multiple task in the body; their most well-known function is helping preserve the normal structure of bones and teeth. There are several factors that determine the utilization of calcium, one of them is vitamin D supply. It was the starting point of a research, by the result of which Strong Bones PLUS includes this vitamin into the formula.

There is a huge amount of research currently being done on this nutrient (Vitamin D) and its role in numerous conditions including bone health, cancer (breast, colorectal and others) and multiple sclerosis. As far as bone goes, we need Vitamin D in order to absorb calcium and phosphate (key chemicals for bone structure) from your diet. Rickets, or softening and bending of the long bones of the body, is a result of Vitamin D deficiency.

Vitamin D is a steroid derivative, a fat soluble, heat resistant vitamin. It has two significant forms, one is D2 (ergocalciferol) and vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol), from among which vitamin D3 is the more active. In foods of plant origin only D2 can be found, while in foods of animal origin both of them.

Vitamin D promotes the absorption of calcium from the intestines, its integration into bones; moreover it helps maintain the calcium balance of blood plasma. This latter is important because calcium, besides being a building block for bones, plays an important role in the functioning of the nervous system, normal coagulation process, for which first of all calcium in the blood plasma is needed.

While there are a few foods with vitamin D such as eggs, salmon and milk, your primary source is sunshine. The UV rays from the sun activate vitamin D production through the skin. Without adequate vitamin D levels, calcium does not absorb as effectively in the body. You need at least ten minutes of exposure in the sun daily, without sunscreen protection, to be effective. Supplements are often advised for women in middle age through menopausal years. The average vitamin D requirements are 400 to 600 I.U. (international units) although some scientists believe that women with a history of osteoporosis in the family should take about 1,000 I.U. of vitamin D.

One thing is clear from epidemiological studies, animal studies, clinical trials and meta-analyses: regular intake of moderate amounts of Vitamin D (700-1000 IU/day), whether daily or weekly, does have beneficial effects on fall and fracture rates in the elderly.

Without sufficient amount of Vitamin D and other factors, calcium supplementation does not increase the bone density in children, nor it reduce the risk of  bone fractures in elderly.

Magnesium Benefits

One of the most powerful but often times overlooked mineral is magnesium. It is an essential mineral, necessary for the functioning of 350 enzymatic processes and involved in certain hormone production. It is also necessary for proper nervous system and muscle function. Magnesium is utilised by every cell of the body, playing a role in energy metabolism and protein synthesis, activating B vitamins, relaxing muscles and forming ATP – the energy molecule. Magnesium is stored in tissues and bone.

Magnesium is found in most foods, but the richest sources are: nuts, whole grains, legumes, brown rice, dark green vegetables and fish. Typical “mediterranean” diet would be rich in magnesium.

Magnesium is the second (after zinc) most commonly deficient mineral in western population. A major reason for it is that food contains much less magnesium than it did before. Additionally,  chronic stress, alcohol, smoking and contraception pills deplete magnesium. Decreased levels of magnesium has been associated with arrhythmia, muscle cramps, fatigue, constipation, anxiety, nervousness, insomnia and depression. Magnesium deficiency (Hypomagnesemia) cause neuromuscular disorders causing weakness, tremors, tetany, convulsions and is associated with diabetes, alcoholism, malabsorption of other nutrients, leading to malnutrition.

Below 5 most important facts about Magnesium benefits:

  • Magnesium treats diabetes
  • Magnesium regulates high blood pressure (Hypertension)
  • Magnesium treats migraines, insomnia, and depression
  • Magnesium prevents cardiovascular diseases
  • Magnesium may reverse osteoporosis

Magnesium Benefits in more detail:

Magnesium is absolutely essential for proper cardiac function. It relaxes the heart muscle and supports normal heart rhythms, which makes it  beneficial in arrhythmia and mitral valve prolapse. This is because magnesium has anti-arrhythmic and muscle relaxing properties, which affect the heart as well as other muscles. Thus, increasing magnesium intake may protect against sudden cardiac death by preventing abnormal heart rhythms.

Magnesium is more effective when taken on an empty stomach, preferably before bedtime. This is very important, because magnesium has alkalising properties and taking it just before or after a meal might interfere with proper digestion. Magnesium enhancers are: B vitamins (especially B6), vitamin C, calcium, essential fatty acids and essential amino-acids.  Generally, dosages of 200-300mg daily should be enough.
Amino acid chelated magnesium is best absorbed, especially when in complex with other minerals or in multivitamin. Chelated magnesium forms are: glycinate, lysinate, succinate, citrate or aspartate. Magnesium phosphate, sulphate, chloride, oxide and taurate are organic (elemental) forms of magnesium. Sometimes elemental magnesium is produced in the base of fumaric or malic acid for better absorption.

Too much calcium in the bloodstream may cause aortic stenosis (abnormal narrowing in a blood vessel). Because magnesium works as a calcium antagonist, it reduces  calcium levels and works as calcium channel blocker, which is anti-arrhythmic and antispasmodic. 500mg of magnesium a day could inhibit calcium excess in blood. Because it blocks calcium, it is also beneficial for glaucoma sufferers.

Magnesium increases the number and sensitivity of insulin receptors and lowers blood glucose levels, playing an important role in the prevention and treatment of syndrome X and diabetes. It also plays a role in carbohydrate tolerance and metabolism.

Taking magnesium results in rapid and sustained relief of acute migraine. Magnesium reduces also blood pressure and works as a vasodilator. 1500mg a day of elemental magnesium, together with 1000mg of calcium and 500mg of potassium is beneficial for the arterial structure.

Magnesium intake is related to the severity of asthma. Low levels of magnesium cause increase of allergies and asthma. Magnesium also relaxes bronchial muscle and helpful to emphysema sufferers. 1000mg a day is a recommended dose for allergies, asthma and emphysema sufferers.

Strong Bones is a complex formula containing calcium and magnesium minerals that our body needs every day. Supplementation of calcium and magnesium will help you maintain normal structures of bones and teeth and will have many other benefits to your helath.
